Hi, I’m Christie.

I am a licensed mental health counselor in Rochester, NY and the founder of Little Lantern Counseling. I am a wife and a mom and in my spare time you can often find me wandering around a bookstore and/or Target, organizing my house, or sitting somewhere by the water.

I created this space to offer something I think so many people quietly crave: a place where you don’t have to hold it all together, or explain away your feelings—where you can put down what you’ve been carrying and just be yourself, without judgment or pressure. A place to slow down, be heard, and start figuring out what you want from life.

Although I am based in Rochester, NY, I can see clients for virtual therapy all throughout the state of New York.

Who I work best with

I work best with adolescent girls, young adults, and millennial women who are:

  • Insightful, emotionally aware, and high-functioning

  • Going through a life shift—starting college, becoming a parent, ending a relationship, etc.

  • Wrestling with questions around identity, purpose, or how to feel more like themselves again

  • New moms feeling overwhelmed and unsure where their sense of self has gone

  • Struggling with anxiety, people-pleasing, or the sense that they’re somehow “behind” in life

  • Looking to make sense of their thoughts & feelings, and process past experiences

  • Navigating relationship patterns that are hard to name or explain

  • Craving a space to feel heard, understood, and supported without judgment

My approach

My therapy style is warm, collaborative, and real — sometimes sassy, always supportive. I believe therapy works best when it feels like a genuine relationship, and I bring both clinical expertise and lived experience into the room. I’ll hold space for the heavy things while also making room for laughter, curiosity, and growth.

My approach is person-centered and strengths-based. I often incorporate evidence-based practices like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and elements of dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) to support emotional regulation, shift unhelpful thought patterns, and build sustainable coping strategies.

Why I do this work

I’ve always been drawn to the inner worlds of others—the quiet thoughts, the things left unsaid, the patterns that repeat without us realizing. I’ve experienced my own journey through grief, childhood trauma, and anxiety, and I know what it’s like to hold a lot beneath the surface while still trying to show up for life.

As a new-ish mom, I’m also navigating what it means to rediscover myself in this new role and stage of life. I’ve always had a sense that I’d end up in a helping profession, and I’ve long been the quiet observer—the one who notices everything, listens deeply, and sees meaning in the mess. Doing this work feels like a natural extension of who I am: someone who’s endlessly curious about people, and honored to sit with them as they make sense of what they’re carrying.
